Homer Dean Aldridge
Homer Dean Aldridge, longtime Beggs resident, died Sunday morning, April 18, 2004 at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa at the age of 84. He was born June 23, 1919 in Shirley, Arkansas to John Asbury and Mattie Emaline (Simpkins) Aldridge. He married Doris Lanora Goodman on June 22, 1941 in Beggs. He retired from Sears and Roebuck and raised horses. Mr. Aldridge was a member of the First Baptist Church of Beggs and the American Quarter Horse Association. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Luna Loyd, a brother, David Aldridge, half sisters, Sabrina Jenkins, Allie Harper, and Virgie Shannon, half brothers, Clement Aldridge and Andy Aldridge, and a grandson, Phillip Burghard.
Survivors include his wife, Doris, of the home, a son, Terry Randall Aldridge and wife Connie of Tulsa, three daughters, Rita Joyce Rose and husband John of Falls River, Mass., Jo Dean Burghard and husband John of Frederick Town, Ohio, and Sammye Lee Aldridge and husband Don Jernigan of Skiatook, ten grandchildren, and sixteen great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, April 23, 2004 at the First Baptist Church of Beggs with Reverend Thom Chappell officiating. Interment will follow in the Beggs Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Eddie Haworth, Patrick Haworth, Brian Baxter, Joey Burghard, Eric Fowler, Daniel Aldridge, Ron Norris, Doug Maynard, and John Charles Rose. Viewing will be Thursday from 9-8 P.M. Arrangements are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Beggs.
