Wallace Checotah, 58, of Tulsa, died Wednesday, January 5, 2005 in Tulsa. He was born May 13, 1946 in Beggs to Barney and Marie (DuBoise) Checotah. He grew up in Beggs and attended Wheatley School and was in the Class of 1965. Wallace loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed cooking, hunting and fishing. He was a construction laborer prior to retiring. Survivors include a daughter, Margaret LeClure of Bristow, two grandchildren, three sisters, Delois Antwine of the home, Lucille Cottrell of Tulsa, and Wilma Wright of Oklahoma City, four brothers, Leroy, Barney, and Donnie Checotah all of Tulsa and Roman Checotah of Beggs and a host of nieces, nephews and special friends. A funeral service will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, January 13, 2005 at the First Baptist Church South of Beggs with Reverends Dr. Maurice Williams and Melvin R. Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Beggs Cemetery. Casketbearers will be James Gibbs, David Daniels, Melvin Gaines, Nathaniel Thompson, Lenard Thompson, Jr. and Avan Lampkin. Friends may visit the funeral home 10-8pm on Wednesday. Arrangements are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Beggs.
