Floyd Collins

Floyd Collins was welcomed into Glory by his heavenly father on Wednesday, December 15, 2004. He was born January 31, 1932 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to Dan and Mable (Hamon) Collins. Mr. Collins graduated with the class of 1952. While in High School he was selected to the High School All American and Oklahoma All-State Football teams. He lettered for four years and was voted captain of the team. After playing in the All-State Game in Oklahoma City He was drafted into the United States Army during the Korean War and was sent to Germany. After returning in 1954 he worked as a policeman for a couple of years before he worked for B.F. Goodrich Company for twenty years. In 1977 he and wife Gwen bought the B.F. Goodrich store and ran it until July of 1996 when the store was sold.

Mr. Collins was preceded in death by his parents Dan and Mable Collins, his former wife and mother of their three children Jeannelle Boyd and a Nephew David Collins.

Survivors include his wife Gwen Collins of the home, a son Floyd Stephen Collins, a daughter Sandra Kay Crenshaw her husband Rick and their five children Michelle Green and Husband Buddy and their son Ethan Green, Kristi Boydston and husband Curtis, Kasey Crenshaw, Derrick Crenshaw, a daughter Cynthia Leigh Blair and husband Irv and their children Heather Crenshaw, Kyle Crenshaw, Johnathon Crenshaw, a daughter Sherry Lynn Denton and her children Michael Denton Jr. His daughter Skyley whose mother is Nikki Day and Daniel Grisham, a daughter Shelly Basquesz and her husband Tommy and their children Kelly Chastain, Kaylee Chastain, Brandon Basquez, Sara Basquez and Shea’ Basquez a son Billy Pearson Jr. and his daughter Chelsey Pearson, brothers David Collins, Don and his wife Loretha Collins and Charlsie Crook.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 2:00 PM on Monday, December 20, 2004 at Saint Anthony’s Catholic Church; Father Benjamin Vima will be officiating. Interment will follow in the Okmulgee Cemetery under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home in Okmulgee.

There will be a time for viewing on Sunday, December 19, 2004 at the Funeral Home from 1:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

The grandsons will be casketbearers; their names are Michael Denton Jr., Daniel Grisham, Derrick Crenshaw, Kyle Crenshaw, Johnathon Crenshaw and Brandon Basquez.
