"Dignity without Compromise"




Joyce Mae Coverdill 76, resident of Okmulgee since 1948, died in Okmulgee on Friday, October 13, 2006. She was born in Centrahoma, Oklahoma on September 11, 1930 to Earl Oidell and Maudie Mae (Sizemore) Northcutt. Joyce worked several years for the Dillsaver-Vernon Cotton Company in Okmulgee. She was a Lifetime member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary and the Dewar First Baptist Church. She was preceded by her parents, a son Gary Vanloon, a daughter Darlene Vanloon Newell and brother James Robert Northcutt Sr.

Survivors include her husband Edward Coverdill of the home, a daughter Deborah Peterson of Wells Point, Texas, a son Jerry Vanloon of Arlington, Texas four sisters Betty Northcutt of Meeker, Olahoma, Wanda wolf of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Lorene Martin of Meeker, Oklahoma and Irene Wilson of Meeker, Oklahoma, 9 grandchildren and great and great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be on Wednesday, October 18, 2006 at 2 pm at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jack Vance officiating. Burial will follow in the Okmulgee Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, 11-8 pm.
