Ernest "Horn" Johnson

Ernest "Horn" Johnson, longtime Beggs resident, died Friday evening, November 5, 2004 at the Muskogee Veteranís Hospital. He was 72 years of age. He was born December 21, 1931 in Beggs to James Johnson, Sr. and Lucy (Sanders) Johnson. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in Korea. Ernest married Helen Payton on October 4, 1956 in Edin burg, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Tommy Johnson, twins, three brothers, James Johnson, Jr., Samuel Johnson, and Leonard Johnson, and two sisters, Margaret Robinson and Lelea Johnson. Survivors include his wife, Helen Johnson of the home, two sons, James Johnson of Okmulgee and Clayton Johnson of Houston, TX, four daughters, Kathleen Wilson of Okmulgee, LouWanda Johnson of Boston, Rosie Ellis of Tulsa and Connie Thompson and husband Mark of Okmulgee, thirteen grandchildren, two great grandchildren and many family and friends. Viewing will be Tuesday, November 9, 2004 from 12-5 pm at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Beggs. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, November 10, 2004 at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Willie Antwine officiating. Interment will follow in the New Bethel Cemetery. Casketbearers will be James Johnson, Clayton Johnson, Mark Thompson, Theodore Jones, Darryle Johnson, and Travis Wilson.
