Doris Eugenia (Jones) Jones


Doris Eugenia (Jones) Jones, Okmulgee, died Tuesday, April 27, 2004 at Southcrest Hospital in Tulsa. She was born on March 4, 1915, in Lawrence, Kansas, to Doris (Rothwell) Brune and Gus Brune. She graduated from Lawrence High School and attended the University of Kansas. She married Robert F. Jones on March 3, 1940, in Oklahoma City. Mrs. Jones owned Eugenia's Antiques for many years and was an accomplished china painter. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Okmulgee and attended the First United Methodist Church of Okmulgee.

Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her son, Robert Rothwell Jones. Survivors include her grandson, Michael Jones and wife, Donna; sister, Ruth Bowlin; brothers, Harold Brune and Dan Brune and wife, Betty; nieces and nephews, Charlotte Grimshaw and husband Bill, Russell Sherwood, Ross Sherwood, Greg Sherwood and wife Jennifer, Albert Brune and wife Nancy; Marylynn Brune, Dan Joe Brune and wife, and Stewart Brune and wife.

Mrs. Jones leaves special thanks to friends Ruth Tisdale, Paula Morris, Linda Brydges, Gloria Canaday, Betty Middleton, Nancy Graham and Janice Crosby, all of whom went beyond friendship to provide unequalled care and comfort to Mrs. Jones.

A funeral service is set for 2:00 P.M. Saturday, May 1, 2004 at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home Chapel and will be performed by Reverend Bill Imhoff. Interment will follow in the Okmulgee Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Ed Canaday, Don Henson, John Middleton, Dennis Crosby and Darel Collins. Honorary casketbearers will be Alan Buchanan, Jim Buchanan, Bret Middleton, Blake Middleton, Tyler Middleton, and Steven Rathbun. Memorials may be made to the food pantry at the First United Methodist Church. Visitation will be Saturday morning at the funeral home.
