Audrey Leon Lawson

Audrey Leon Lawson, longtime Okmulgee resident, died Sunday morning, November 21, 2004 at Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa. He was 82 years of age. Mr. Lawson was born February 13, 1922 in Henryetta to Alfie Lee and Rella B. (Minyard) Lawson. He married Maxine Reece on November 26, 1941. He was retired from the Oklahoma State Highway Department after 21 years of service and was a member of the Second Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three sisters, Marie Cox, Mary Cox, and Flossie Wilson, and a grandson, Brian Watkins. Survivors include his two daughters, Jeanette Watkins and husband Harold of Morris and Sandra Ballard and husband Boots of Okmulgee, two sons, Wayne Lawson and wife Vicki of Gillette, Wyoming and Steven Lawson and wife Susan of Okmulgee, two sisters, Clystia Cooper of Sentinal, Oklahoma and Edna Nelson of Knoxville, Arkansas, a granddaughter, Deborah Blair and husband James and a great grandson.

Viewing will be Tuesday, November 23, 2004 from 12-8 PM at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 24, 2004 at the Wilson Salt Creek Cemetery with Reverend Tim Craighton officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.
