Eugene (Gene) Lybarger

 

 

Eugene (Gene) Lybarger 87, longtime Okmulgee resident died in Tulsa on Thursday, Sept. 2, 2004. He was born on July 27, 1917 in Henryetta, Oklahoma to Clarence L. and Ethel (Hurn) Lybarger. Gene married Irene (McKinney) Penn on August 6, 1971 at the First Christian Church in Okmulgee, OK. He enlisted in the Military on July 1, 1940 during World War II he was in Sicily, Southern France, Naples Foggia, Rome, Arno Rhineland and Central Europe. He was discharged with good conduct medal, an American Defense Service Ribbon EAME service Ribbon with one Silver Service Star, one Bronze Service Star and one Bronze Arrowhead when the war ended. He served for over five years in Sicily, Southern France, Naples, Foggia, Rome, Central Europe, Rhineland in the 103rd Infantry Division. Mr. Lybarger had worked in sales most of his life before retirement. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his wife, Irene Lybarger of the home, Step-sons; Doug and wife Connie Penn, Britt and wife Edine Penn, son Kurt Lybarger, and 4 grandchildren and one sister Helen Holmes, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 7, 2004 at the McClendon-Winters Chapel at 2:00 pm. Rev. Willis Baldridge will officiate. Burial will be in the Okmulgee Cemetery.
