Jeff James Pendergrass

Jeff James Pendergrass, longtime Beggs resident, died Monday, November 22, 2004 at his home. He was 69 years of age. Mr. Pendergrass was born November 23, 1934 at the Thompson Ranch near Beggs to James Monte "Pug" and Mary (Kralik) Pendergrass. He served in the U.S. Army and later married Vivian Bricker. He was a heat and air contractor. For many years he enjoyed being a pilot and he loved music, but most of all, he loved life. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Vivian in 1992, two brothers, Jack and George Pendergrass and two sisters, Mamie Lou Rhea and Eleanor Harvey. Survivors include two daughters, Venna Simmons and husband John of Cleveland, Oklahoma and Vonda Pendergrass of Beggs, two sisters, Eva Poynter of Tulsa and Pauline Branson of Okmulgee, two brothers, Gene Pendergrass of Okmulgee and Scott Pendergrass of Broken Arrow and two grandchildren.

Viewing will be Wednesday, November 24, 2004 at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Beggs. A Funeral service will be held Friday, November 26, 2004 at the First Baptist Church with Reverend Thom Chappell officiating. Interment will follow in the Beggs Cemetery with VFW Post 1189 of Okmulgee and VFW Post 539 of Henryetta providing the Military Honor Guard. Casket bearers will be Leonard Howard, John Slagle, Gary Mount, Scot Pendergrass, Scott Pendergrass, and Steve Parker. Arrangements are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Beggs.
