Ella Mae Poyner

Ella Mae Poyner, 76, of rural Beggs, died Thursday morning, February 3, 2004 at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa. She was born June 23, 1928 in St. James, Missouri to Clifford Franklin and Stella Jane (Swyers) Sandfer. She grew up in Sand Springs and married Kenneth Poyner on February 25, 1956 in Tulsa. They made their home near Beggs in 1968. She was preceded in death by her father, Clifford Sandfer, mother, Stella Jane Bush, a granddaughter, LeeAnn Henderson, a great grandchild and a sister, Dorothy Macri.

Survivors include her husband, Kenny Poyner, of the home, three daughters, Patricia Duke of Norman, Karen Thornburg of Dentonville, and Cindy Poyner of Slick, four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday, February 5, 2005 at the Nuyaka Baptist Church with Reverend David Hamilton officiating. Interment will follow in the Beggs Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Danny Estrada, Johnny Smith, Clint Scism, Michael Reed, Dusty Driggars, and Cliff Speer. Arrangements are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Beggs.
