Wilbur Wayne Strickland

Wilbur Wayne Strickland, age 91, of Beggs, died Sunday, February 6, 2005 at Okmulgee Memorial Hospital. He was born September 7, 1913 in Stella, Missouri to Oscar and Susie Strickland. Mr. Strickland was a night watchman at Sapulpa Brick Company before retirement and was a member of the Church of Christ in Joplin. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Grace Jarvis Strickland, two brothers, Oscar Lee and Jay Strickland and a sister, Midge Strickland. Survivors include two step-sons, Norman Purdy and wife Jeanell of Beggs and Jim Purdy of Beggs, five step-daughters, Margie Fuqua and husband Al, Pat Reynolds, and Jackie Ledford and husband Bob, all of Beggs, Shirley Webb and husband Earl of Coweta and Linda Schachle and husband David of Jay, two sisters, Virginia Johnson of Joplin and Elizabeth Quinn of Stella, MO, two brothers, George Strickland of Conway and Glenn Strickland of Stella, MO, a son, Leon Strickland and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.


A graveside service will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 9, 2005 at the Owsley Union Cemetery in Stella, Missouri. Viewing will be 9-4:00 Tuesday at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Beggs.
