Kenneth Arthur (Kenny) Acton
Kenneth Arthur (Kenny) Acton, Okmulgee resident, died Saturday morning, January 17, 2004 at his home following an extended illness. He was 50 years of age. He was born June 24, 1953 in Okmulgee to James Kenneth and Pamela (Coker) Acton. A 1971 graduate of Okmulgee High School, Kenny attended Central State then joined the United States Air Force. He had been employed with Phillips Petroleum and Koch Industries as a technical engineer. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his son and nephews and spending time with his daughter Jessica. He was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his loving family, wife, Jeanne Acton of the home, a daughter, Jessica Acton of Oklahoma City, a son, Kyle Acton of the home, his mother, Pamela Acton of Okmulgee, a brother, Kurt Acton of Tulsa, four sisters, Diana Peeler of Okmulgee, Denise Stanley and husband John of Okmulgee, Jennifer Byassee of Oklahoma City and Jackie White and husband David of Okmulgee, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 21, 2004 at St. Anthony Catholic Church with Father Amalor Vima officiating. Interment will follow in the Okmulgee Cemetery. Pallbearers will be James Buchanan, Darel Collins, Terry Hurd, Randy Streight, John Hummel, and Steve Bogie. Honorary pallbearers will be Kent Magrini, Ed Robinson, James Williams, Brandon Arterburyand Ronnie White. Military graveside rites will be conducted by VFW Post 1189 of Okmulgee and VFW Post 539 of Henryetta. Friends may visit the funeral home from 10-8 PM Tuesday. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Green Country Hospice, or Marion Academy in Kenny’s memory. Arrangements are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.
