Kenneth "Dexter" Bailey, Jr.
Kenneth "Dexter" Bailey, Jr., longtime Okmulgee area resident, died Monday, January 5, 2004 in Okmulgee at the age of 58. He was born July 18, 1945 in Okmulgee to Kenneth Dexter Bailey, Sr. and Ballie Jean (Riley) Bailey. After high school Dexter obtain a degree in education and spent two years at the University of Arkansas Law School. He managed Bailey Ranch and was owner/operator of Bailey Enterprises, and a partner with his son Ken in the storage business and had managed Bailey Ranch breeding and training Thoroughbred Race Horses. He was the Calf Roping World Champion in 1970,75,76, and 79. Dexter married Sue Bain in 1966. He was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer and the International Professional Rodeo Association. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Gay Beth Bailey.
Survivors include three children, Ken Bailey and wife Kathy of Henryetta, Riley Renee Bailey of the home, and Bain Bailey of Wister, two grandchildren, Kade and Kanon, a brother, Bret Bailey of Tulsa, a sister, LeeAnn Loftin of Tulsa, two aunts, Ann Wise and Mary Bailey Romine, both of Okmulgee, an uncle, Dick Bailey and wife Mary Lou of Okmulgee, and cousins, Mike and Bill Bailey, Jill Keck, Chris Wise, Virginia Foster, Chris Romine and Jeff Romine.
A funeral service will be held 1:00 P.M. Friday, January 9, 2004 at the First Baptist Church with George Marty Brock officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.
