William Earl Bailey

William Earl Bailey, 83 of Okmulgee, passed away on Saturday, July 28, 2008 while traveling on vacation in Eagle Next, NM. "Bill" was born on September 7, 1923 to Major and Ara Bailey in Ada and had two sisters, Lolita and June. He graduated from Lula High School, served in the US Navy during World War II as a pilot, a member of the Masonic Lodge, and retired as Head of the Automotive Department at OSU-Okmulgee after 25 years of service. His first wife, Wilma Bailey and a sister June, preceded him in death.

Survivors their only son Bill Bailey of Bixby, OK, two grandchildren Angela, and Allison, and two great-grandchildren, his second wife Charlene, and her family that includes three children Judy, Monty and Michael (deceased), seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. His hobbies included fishing, boating, being with family and friends, playing washers and he enjoyed traveling in his motor home. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew him and for the family members that loved him so much.

Funeral services will be on Thursday, 2 PM at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lawrence Matlock officiating. Burial will be in the Okmulgee Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday until 8 PM. The family suggests contributions be made in his name to either the American Cancer Society or the Arthritis Association. Condolences may be made at
