Joyce Marie Basquez
Joyce Marie Basquez, longtime Okmulgee resident, died Monday evening, November 14, 2005 at her home. She was 68 years of age. She was born March 23, 1937 in Wetumka, Oklahoma to Loyd and Lillie (Jones) Williams. She married Daniel Basquez on February 5, 1955 in Wetumka. She was a member of the Northside Assembly of God for over 35 years and was an avid reader, enjoyed sewing, music and was a wonderful cook. Mrs. Basquez worked for the Okmulgee Public Schools for 18 years as a cook.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, Gerald and David Williams and two sisters, Dessie Choate and Anne Orsburn.
Survivors include her children, Billy Basquez and wife Jan, Sharon Morris and husband Lloyd, Mike Basquez and wife Dos, Tommy Basquez and wife Shelly and Carolyn Jamison and husband Rusty, two brothers, George and Lindzey Williams, two sisters, Patsy Parris and LaVern Julian, twelve grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 P.M. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
The funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday, November 17, 2005 at New Life Assembly of God with Reverends Jimmie Ledgerwood and Lloyd Morris officiating. Interment will follow in the Okmulgee Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Steve Basquez, Joey Basquez, James Morris, Jacob Morris, Justin Huskey, Brandon Basquez, and Jerritt Basquez. Arrangements are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.
