Nicholas Basquez Sr.

Nicholas Basquez Sr., 80 of Okmulgee passed away Sunday, April 18, 2004 at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, OK after a lengthy illness. Born 12-06-1923 in Fabian, TX. He served in the U.S. Army with the 182nd infantry L Company in the South Pacific during WW II. Nicholas worked as a cement finisher by trade and raised his family of four children in Okmulgee. He was preceded in death by his parents Andy Basquez and Rafaelia (Jaramillo) Basquez, Brothers Daniel, Ralph, Jessie and one sister Juanita, "Johnnie" Basquez.

Nicholas is survived by his wife of 49 years Mildred; Children Nick Basquez Jr., Linda (Basquez) Edwards and spouse Kenneth, Melody (Basquez) Clay, Merle (Basquez) and Spouse Cyndy.

Grandchildren Tamera (Edwards) Sloan, Kristin Edwards, Keli Edwards, Nicholas Basquez III, Amanda Basquez, Sean Clay, Timothy Clay, Joshua Basquez, Samantha Basquez, and Miranda Basquez. Nicholas was also blessed by four great-grandchildren; Wyatt, K.C., Shayleigh and Kelci. Brothers Raymond Basquez of Augusta, KS, Gonzalez Basquez of Okmulgee, Jim Basquez of Wetumka, Chauncey Lee Sloan of Shawnee, sisters, Doris Davis of Glenpool, Julia Underwood of Wetumka and Maggie Johnson of Harrisonville, MO.

Funeral Services for Mr. Basquez will be 2:00 PM on Tuesday April 20, 2004 at the New Life Assembly of God in Okmulgee, OK with Reverend Jimmie Ledgerwood officiating and Reverend C. R. French Assisting. Interment will follow in the Wetumka Cemetery under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home in Okmulgee. Military Honors will be provided by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1189 of Okmulgee and Post #539 of Henryetta.

Viewing will be on Monday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home in Okmulgee.

Casketbearers Will be Nicholas Basquez III, Sean Clay, Joshua Basquez, Rick Davis, Steve Davis and Michael Underwood.

Honorary Casketbearers will be Tommy Basquez, Mike Basquez and Billy Basquez.
