Herbert Earl Baughman

Herbert Earl Baughman, longtime Okmulgee resident, passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2003 at Glenpool Healthcare Center at the age of 87. He was born June 7, 1915 in Jeannette, PA to Harry W. and Gertrude (Walters) Baughman. Mr. Baughman was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Persian Gulf Command during World War II. He married Lillian C. Clair in August 1945 in Jeannette. They moved to Okmulgee in 1948 and then to Iowa Park, Texas in 1974 with Pittsburgh Glass. He retired in 1977 and returned to Okmulgee. Mr. Baughman enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening, and was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, The Knights of Columbus, and the Glasscutters Union. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Lillian in 1975 and a son, Richard Baughman in 1991.

Survivors include a son, Chipper Baughman and wife Toni of Okmulgee, a daughter, Patty Kleinecke and husband John of Houston, two brothers, Harry Baughman of Burkburnette TX and Emory Baughman of Fresno, CA, two sisters, Gladys Stoltz and Verna DiClaudio, both of Jeannette, PA, and two grandchildren, Michael Kleinecke of Houston and Shannon Baughman of Stillwater.

A Rosary will be held 7:00 P.M. Thursday, May 1, 2003 at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 A.M. Friday, May 2, 2003 at St. Anthony Catholic Church with Father Alamor Vima officiating. Interment will follow in the Okmulgee Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joe Brown, Mike Taylor, Earl Hadley, Jack Baughman, John Kleinecke, and Robbie Baughman. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society and Crossroads Hospice in care of the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.
