     Helen Baker Beaverson

Helen Baker-Beaverson, formerly of Okmulgee and a resident of Tulsa, died Wednesday evening, August 29, 2007. She was born August 19, 1910 in Saint Louis, Missouri to Richard Edward and Nell Margaret (Sutter) Nelson. She graduated from Oklahoma State A&M College, where she was a 75-year member of Pi Beta Phi. Mrs. Beaverson was also a 50-year member of PEO Chapter Z, having served as president. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was a pianist and organist and enjoyed playing bridge, reading and being with her family. She taught school at Webster Elementary in Okmulgee in 1935 and later that year married Dennis Baker. After the death of Mr. Baker in 1957, she married R.J. Beaverson on July 5, 1969 at the First Christian Church and together they owned and operated Buck Beaverson Furniture. Mrs. Beaverson was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. And Mrs. R.E. Nelson, a daughter, Marilyn Baker, first husband, Dennis Baker, a brother, R.E. Nelson, Jr. and her second husband, R.J. (Buck) Beaverson. Survivors include her son, Richard D. Baker and wife Cynthia of Cincinnati, a daughter, Jeanne Baker-Heath, formerly of Okmulgee and of Tulsa, granddaughter, Denise Heath-Trumpfheller and husband Bill of Philadelphia, grandsons, Steven Baker of Scottsdale and David Baker and wife Cindy and a great grandson, Grant, all of Cincinnati, and a sister, Pat Mourning Dyniewicz of California. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, September 5, 2007 at the First United Methodist Church with Reverend Craig Denslow officiating. Interment will follow at the Okmulgee Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Bill Trumpfheller, Steven Baker, David Baker, Denise Trumpfheller, Dick Baker and Jim McClendon. Friends may visit the funeral home from 12-8 P.M. on Tuesday.
