Buzz Jackson (Jack) Bevenue, 77, died
November 4, 2007 in Sapulpa. He was born January 26, 1930 to
William and Cinda (Harjo) Bevenue. He and Gayle Herberger
were married August 4, 1963 and were residents of Okmulgee
Jack worked as a truck driver for many
years, and then worked as a mechanic for the Muscogee
(Creek) Nation. He continued to do mechanic work until he
retired. He was a charter member of the Belvin Baptist
Church in Okmulgee. He served in the United States Navy from
November 7, 1947 until February 17, 1950 and then joined the
Army on January 16, 1961 until February 20, 1962. He was a
proud lifetime member of both the Elks Lodge 1822 and VFW
Post 1189. He served as State Commander, Post Commander,
Quarter master, and Captain of the 1962-1963 All State Team
for the UFW.
Jack is survived by four daughters;
Phyllis and Michael Biggiam of Claremore, Susan Bevenue of
Glenpool, Jacque and Bryan McGertt of Okmulgee, and Yvonne
and Stoney McIntosh of Hitchita, two sons; Billy Jack and
Kathy Bevenue of Glenpool and Andrew Bevenue of the home,
two brothers; Pat Bevenue of Sapulpa and Melvin Bevenue of
Tulsa, 12 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and a host of
nieces, nephews and many, many friends.
Pallbearers are Patrick Bevenue, Robert
Satterfield, Sonny Bevenue, James Monroe, Michael Bevenue
and Wayne Bevenue. Honorary Pallbearers are his grandsons;
Andrew Bevenue, Christopher Bevenue, Shawn Bevenue, Jordan
Gresham, Jacob Hicks, Ryan Biggiam, Billy Jack Cark, Ricki
Ford, and Zachary Mitchell.
Wake services will be held Tuesday,
November 6 at 7:00 PM at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home
Chapel. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Wednesday,
November 7 at the First Baptist Church in Okmulgee.
Officiating will be Reverend Bridge Chuckluck and Alfred
Berryhill. Visitation will be Tuesday at the
McClendon-Winters Funeral Home.
