OBITUARY DESK:

Gayle Ann Herberger Bevenue, 65, a longtime resident of Okmulgee, died Wednesday, October 16, 2002 in Okmulgee. She was born February 24, 1937 in Okemah, Oklahoma to Martin and Elsie (Storms) Herberger. She married Jack Bevenue on August 4, 1963. She retired from Okmulgee Schools System in May 1997 after 18 years of dedicated work as a secretary. Gayle was a charter member of the Belvin Baptist Church, Okmulgee. She was a member of the Elks and VFW Post 1189. She was Auxiliary President of Post 1189 and 2 time District President. She was a member of Okmulgee Indian Community and established their Smokeshop.

Preceding her in death were her parents, one grandson Braden Cusher, brothers Clifford Herberger, James Herberger, and Raymond Herberger and sisters Helen Vulbrock and Dorothy Webb.

Survivors include her husband Jack Bevenue of the home, four daughters Jacque and husband Bryan McGertt of Okmulgee, Yvonne Bevenue of Okmulgee, Susan Bevenue of Glenpool and Phyllis and husband Mike Biggiam of Claremore, two sons Andrew Bevenue of the home, and Billy Jack Bevenue and wife Kathy of Glenpool, a sister Clarice and husband Anthony of Riverside, California, two brothers John and wife Sue Herberger of Jenks, and George and wife Jerry Herberger of Jasper, Texas, twelve grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Wake services will be on Friday at 7 pm at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Services will be on Saturday, October 19, 2002 at 10 am at the First Baptist Church in Okmulgee. Ministers will be Bridge Chuckaluck, Abe McIntosh and Willie Pigeon. Interment will be in the Okmulgee Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 10 am.

Pallbearers will be Michael Jimboy, Frank Kubicek, Johnny Whitfield, Jeff Pulliam, Dwight Wilson, and John Reed.
