J.F. Busby, Jr.

J.F. Busby, Jr., former resident of Okmulgee, died Friday, June 29, 2007 in Muskogee at the age of 95. He was born May 29, 1912 in Garvin, Oklahoma to Junious Fletcher and Josie Bell (Chronister) Busby. He served his country in the U.S. Army Infantry during World War II until he was wounded, receiving the Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Service Medal, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He resided in Nicoma Park, Oklahoma for many years, retiring from Tinker Air Force Base in 1972. He made his home in Okmulgee after retirement and was an avid horseman and gardener, and loved to dance. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Okmulgee.

Mr. Busby was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers and sisters.. Survivors include his son, Dale Busby and wife Sharon of Odessa, Missouri, three daughters, Sharon Denney of Muskogee, Sandra Larocco and husband Mike of Henryetta and Debbie McDaniel and husband Roy of Beggs, five grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held 4:00 P.M. Monday, July 2, 2007 at the Morris Cemetery Chapel with Reverend Dee Couch officiating. Friends may visit the funeral home on Sunday from 12-8 P.M. Arrangements are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee. Online condolences may be sent at
