Evelyn Maedean Callahan

Evelyn Maedean Callahan, 75, died in Okmulgee on June 24, 2008. Maedean was born on May 21, 1933 to Earl Allen and Gladys Faye (Harrison) Payne. She grew up on the family farm near Sallisaw. On November 28, 1953 Maedean married Billy Ray Callahan. They came to Okmulgee in 1955 when her husband attended school at Okmulgee Tech. She resided in Beggs for most of her adult life where she worked as a bank clerk until retiring in 1999.

Maedean was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Bill Callahan of Okemah, a son, Allen Callahan and his wife Renee, a grand daughter, Ginger Collins, two grandsons; Brice Callahan and wife Stephanie, and Paton Callahan, one great grandson, Dallas Collins, all of Nuyaka, and a brother Nathan Payne of Stillwater.

Services will be on Friday, June 27, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. at the Church of God of Prophecy in Beggs, Oklahoma with the Reverend Matt Stockton officiating. Interment will follow at the Beggs Cemetery. Viewing will be on Thursday, June 26, 2008 from 12:00 Noon until 8:00 P.M. at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home in Beggs, Oklahoma. Online condolences may be made at mcclendon-winters.com
