Helen "Louise" Combs

Helen "Louise" Combs, 68, of Okmulgee, passed away Saturday, August 18, 2007 after her courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 21, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at the Grand Street Church of Christ, followed by a graveside service at the Okmulgee Cemetery. The family has entrusted McClendon-winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee with the arrangements. Howard Horton will be officiating. Visitation will be on Monday, August 20, 1-8 p.m.

Louise was born on December 13, 1938 in Nanty Glo, Pennsylvania. She married Glenn Combs on June 20, 1958 and in 1971 they made their home in Okmulgee, where they raised 4 children and owned the Central Street Café for many years. She was an active faithful member of the Grand Street Church of Christ for over 30 years. Louise was known by Momma Lou by a host of friends and family, and she will be dearly missed.

Louise was preceded in death by her parents Virgil "Jim" Averett and her mother Geraldine "Jeri" Averett, and her loving husband Glenn Combs. Survivors include her children: Sharon Jarrett of Arlington, TX, Jeri Combs of Muskogee, Glenda and Mike Tinnell of Muskogee, and Paul and Julie Combs of Fort Worth, TX. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren: Bethany, Chris, Tiffany, Scotty, Heather and Katie, and 3 brothers: Harvey, Mike and Marvin. Condolences may be made at mcclendon-winters.com
