Nancy Ruth Craig

Nancy Ruth Craig formerly of Okmulgee passed away in Wetumka, OK on December 12, 2003. Ruth was born in Hector, Arkansas on March 6, 1905, to George and Martha Churchill. She married Olen Craig on March 27, 1926 in Hector. They moved to Garber-Covington Oilfield where Mr. Craig was employed with Sinclair Oil Company. A few years and five children later, Mr. Craig became an Ordained Minister with the Assemblies of God. They Pastored churches at the Garber-Covington Oilfield, Enid, Alva, Anadarko and in Okmulgee where they retired. Ruth was a devoted Pastorís wife and never worked outside the home. She loved her family and friends and enjoyed being with them and doing things for them. She loved making dresses for the eleven granddaughters and tolerated the 100 frogs put in her bathtub by the grandsons. She even laughed when she found one in her bed and had to change the bedding before going to bed. She spoiled us all by making big biscuits, chocolate gravy and wacky cake, especially for the grand kids when they visited. She delighted in telling stories about her childhood days in Hector. Ruth gave love and expressed it with gentle words, a tender touch and showed loving kindness. She never spoke unkind words about anyone.

Ruth is preceded in death by her parents and was the last sibling in a family of five brothers and three sisters. Also preceding her were two infant sons, husband Olen Craig and daughter, Wanda Abbott.

She is survived by sons; Harold and his wife Norma of Norman, OK, Farrell and his wife Kathryn of Richardson, TX, Dean Craig of Okmulgee and daughter, Kathy White and husband Lawrence of Wetumka, OK. She leaves sixteen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.

She appreciated the many telephone calls, visits and cards from her family and friends who never forgot her.

The family wishes to express special thanks to Suzie Berry who went above and beyond her duties, Dr. Mark Kagan and all of the Maryís House calls nurses. Also to Herman and Eva Koerner and Bertha Hill who came to visit her all of time; to Reverend Don and Joyce Brown for their spiritual guidance, Trudy Cline, Beverly and Cecil Cockman who grew roses and brought them to brighten her day.

Ruth had a great ling life and has now gone to a better living and leaves a beautiful legacy and wonderful memories.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm on Monday, December 15, 2003 at the First Assembly of God Church in Okmulgee with Reverend Raymond Doke officiating. Interment will be 2:00 pm on Tuesday, December 16, 2003 at the Walnut Grove Cemetery in Hector, AR. Under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home in Okmulgee.

Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Funeral Home in Okmulgee.

Casketbearers will be Bill Craig, Bob Craig, Jeff Craig, Jon Craig, Steve Craig and Travis Cagle.
