Manford Fields Davis

Manford Fields Davis, 57, of Okmulgee, died Tuesday, May 3, 2005 at the Department of Veteranís Affairs Medical Center in Muskogee. He was born May 30, 1947 in Nevada, Missouri to William Robert and Bette (Hunt) Davis. He graduated from Okmulgee High School and joined the United States Navy, serving in Vietnam. After returning from Vietnam he worked as a firefighter at the Norfolk Naval Base until retiring and moving back to Okmulgee in October of 2004. He also worked as a carpenter throughout his life and had attended the Assembly of God Church in Henryetta. Those preceding him in death were his father and maternal grandparents, Leslie and Inez Marie Hunt. Survivors include his mother, Bette, of Okmulgee, daughters, Donna Jean Davis and Sherry Ann Collins, both of Chesapeake, Virginia, five brothers, John Davis and wife Karen of Okmulgee, Leslie Davis and wife Susie of Muskogee, Samuel Davis and Toby Davis and wife Mary, all of Broken Arrow, and Scot Davis and wife Wynona of Conway, Arkansas, two grandsons, and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, May 6, 2005 at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at the Ft. Gibson National Cemetery under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee. Casketbearers will be brothers and nephew, John Davis, Jr.
