"Dignity without Compromise"
Selee Deere 93, longtime resident of Okmulgee, died in Okmulgee on Tuesday, November 15, 2005. She was born in Okfuskee County on August 15, 1912 to Nancy and Mitchell Roberts. Selee married Isaac Deere on May 1, 1931 and was married for 60 years before he preceded her in death on March 27, 1991. Three children, three grandchildren and one great grandchild and her parents also preceded her in death.
Survivors include her sons: Tom Deere of Okmulgee, Wilson and wife Louise Deere of Liberty Mounds, Oklahoma, Samuel D. Deere of Longview, Texas, Robert and wife Elizabeth Deere of Okmulgee and daughters Lou and husband Leo Messer of Okmulgee, and Roberta and husband Gary Pickett of Seminole, Oklahoma. Nineteen grandchildren, thirty-nine great grandchildren, thirty-four great great grandchildren and one great great great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
Wake services will be at 7 pm Thursday at Montezuma Baptist Church with funeral serves at 1 pm on Friday at Montezuma Baptist Church and burial in the Montezuma Cemetery under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home in Okmulgee. Pallbearers will be great grandsons.
