Clara Leslie (Bandy) Dixon

Clara Leslie (Bandy) Dixon, longtime Liberty Morris resident, died Sunday afternoon, July 25, 2004 at Okmulgee Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Dixon was 101 years of age. She was born January 9, 1903 in Snowball, Arkansas to James and Frances (Seitz) Bandy. She married W.W. Dixon in 1921 in Arkansas. He preceded her in death on February 16, 1958. They moved to Cookson, Oklahoma in 1927 and to the Liberty Community in 1929, where she had resided since. She was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church and Home Demonstration Club. Preceding Mrs. Dixon in death are her parents, husband, two daughters, Nadine Hill and Ruby Ledford, son-in-law, Doyle Hill, a sister and three brothers.

Survivors include four sons, Doyle Dixon and wife Lillie and James Dixon and wife Glenda, all of Liberty Morris, J.C. Dixon and wife Mary of Okmulgee, and Jr. Dixon and wife Mona of Blackwell, four daughters, Kay McGahey of Broken Arrow, Pauline Miller and husband Willard of Okmulgee, Edna Edwards and husband Harold of McAlester, and June Delaugder and husband Phil of Belle Plain, Kansas, and son-in-law Obie Ledford of Okmulgee 37 grandchildren, 63 great grandchildren, 39 great great grandchildren, and one great great great grandchild.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 28, 2004 at the Liberty Baptist Church with Reverend Jeff Ward officiating. Interment will follow in the Liberty Cemetery with grandsons serving as casketbearers. The family will receive friends from 6-8 P.M. Tuesday evening at the funeral home in Morris. Arrangements are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Morris.
