"Dignity without compromise"


Clifford A. Doane 90, a resident of Okmulgee died in Sapulpa on Sunday, January 27, 2002. He was born in Beaver County, OK to George and Nora (Husted) Doane on July 21, 1911. He and his family moved to Major County near Enid in 1922, where he was affiliated with a furniture store. In 1937 he was employed by Oklahoma Natural Gas Co., where he worked for 36 years retiring in 1974. He worked in Clinton, and in 1951 was moved to Okmulgee as a sales representative. He was an active member in the Okmulgee First Christian Church, serving as an Elder, Elder Emeritus and Board Chairman twice. He had been a very active Lionís Club member since 1949. He was responsible for the Lions Pancake Sale annually for many years. He was very active in the Okmulgee community, serving in many capacities.

Ethel May Doane, affectionately known as "Tiny", went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 24, 2002. She was in the Gardens Nursing Home in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. She was born in Bronson, Kansas to Oscar and Emma (Bayless) Wilson on November 28, 1906. She was 95.Mrs. Doane was a homemaker, a good wife and a wonderful mother to her three children. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Okmulgee, where she served in many capacities, also an active member in the Okmulgee Lioness Club. Along with her late husband, Clifford, she was active in the Winnebago Club. She married Clifford Doane in 1935 in Bronson, Kansas. Their survivors include one son Jimmy A. Doane of Sapulpa, two daughters Carol Jean Doane Argo of Tulsa and Doris June Doane Kent of Manteno, Illinois, eight grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
