Freeda Nadine Downs
Freeda Nadine Downs, our Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and sister went to be with her Savior on November 13, 2005. She was born on September 9, 1923 in Big Flat, Arkansas to Dirley Preston and Mary Florence McLone Wynn. She married Walter Hollett downs on November 28, 1941, in Searcy County, Arkansas.
Freeda had a passion for the outdoors and gardening. She also loved making quilts. Her greatest love was attending church and listening to gospel music. She instilled in us strength and determination, and she taught us the importance of kindness to others. Her husband, parents, one son; Bobby James downs, two grandchildren, five brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.
Survivors include her sons Bill and wife hazel of Sapulpa, and Holly and his wife Tina of Okemah; her daughters, Carolyn and husband Ted Beesley of Liberty Mounds, Betty and husband Richard Perkins of Hammon, Sharon Downs of Beggs, eighteen grandchildren, and thirty-eight great grandchildren. She also leaves behind three sisters; Alice Oshia of O’Fallon, Missouri, Shirley Beesley of Spiro, Doris Craig of Sand Springs, and three brothers; O.T. Wynn of Sand Springs, Dirley Wynn of Harrison, Arkansas and Richard Wynn of Mounds, and many other family members and friends.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 pm at the First Assembly of God Church in Beggs. Rev. Gary Barnett will officiate. Interment will be in the Beggs Cemetery under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home in Beggs. Visitation will be on Tuesday at the funeral home 12-8 pm.
Honorary pallbearers are Ted Beesley and Richard Perkins. Pallbearers will be Kevin Boydston, Mark Downs, Donnie Downs, Blake Downs, Derrick Perkins and Ronnie Wynn
