Lorene Drewry

Lorene Drewry passed away January 15, 2008, at the age of 86, losing her battle with cancer. Lorene was born May 26, 1921 in the town of Mounds, Oklahoma. She moved away from Mounds with her husband, Ted, when she was still very young and lived in California for many years raising their three children. After having lost her husband, Lorene returned to the place of her birth to live for the rest of her life. She was an icon to the town of Mounds having served as their Town Clerk for twenty years. She is survived by her two daughters, Doris Willene Ree of St. George, Utah, and Edna Lee Shawgo of Lone Tree, Colorado, her nine grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, having a five generation family. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews living in Oklahoma as well as throughout the United States. She was a very special person to many people. She will truly be missed by her family and friends. Services will be at the First Baptist Church in Mounds, Oklahoma on Friday, January18, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. with the Reverend Dick Knox officiating. Viewing will be held on Thursday from 12:00 to 8:00 P.M. at McClendon-Winters Funeral Home in Beggs, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of McClendon-Winters Funeral Home.
