"Dignity without compromise"


Margaret Elizabeth Duncan, 82, longtime Morris resident, passed away Thursday morning, August 29, 2002 at the Coweta Manor Nursing Home in Coweta. She was born April 22, 1920 in Lockesburg, Arkansas to John Pierce and Allie Eudora (Green) Richardson. She married Edward Ray Duncan on July 6, 1940 in Okmulgee. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Morris and the Sunshine Gals of Morris. She loved being a Sunshine Gal, and enjoyed visiting friends and family. She had worked at various jobs as a cleaning lady and a cook, and loved her church and the many friends she had. She always had a hug for everyone.

Mrs. Duncan was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ray, on May 30, 1997, two brothers, Harold and Kenneth Richardson, and a grandson, David Hawthorne. Survivors include a son, Bill Duncan and wife Keri of Los Angeles, California, three daughters, Anita Smith and husband Ronnie of Huntsville, Arkansas, Marilyn Keaton and husband Richard of Haskell, and Jane Olmos of Granite Falls, Washington, a brother, Bill Richardson and wife Margaret of Tennessee, eleven grandchildren and twenty four great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Duncan will be held 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, September, 3, 2002 at the First Baptist Church of Morris with Reverend Don Samples officiating. Interment will follow in the Morris Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Russell Duncan, Bo Eldridge, John Hoover, Ron Smith, Shawn Smith and Johnny Duncan. The family will receive friends from 1-4 P.M. Sunday at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home in Morris. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the First Baptist Church of Morris.
