John Leland Eckfeldt, 72, of Okmulgee, passed away Sunday, March 4, 2007 at his home. John was born in Okmulgee on December 29, 1934 to Clifford and Naamah (Bennett) Eckfeldt. He graduated from Okmulgee High Scholl with the Class of 1953. He was retired from American Airlines. John was preceded in death by his parents, a niece, Dayna Eckfeldt Dunson and a nephew, Mike Peeler. Survivors include a brother, Ed Eckfeldt and wife Allene of Henryetta, two sisters, Dolores Peeler and husband Jack of Okmulgee, and Rosalind Taylor and husband Vic of Henryetta, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends, including special friend Lahoma Goldsmith. A funeral service will be held 10:00 A.M. Thursday, March 8, 2007 at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Okmulgee Cemetery. Casketbearers will be nephews, Marc Taylor, Quint Taylor, Kent McCloskey, Brandon Winn, Tanner McCloskey and Larry Smith. Friends may visit on Wednesday from 12-8 P.M.
