McCLENDON-WINTERS FUNERAL HOME "Dignity without Compromise"

(Strawberry) Ellig Charles Dewayne (Strawberry) Ellig 79,
longtime resident of Okmulgee died in Okmulgee on Thursday,
February 15, 2007. He was born in Weleetka, Oklahoma on May
28, 1927 to George Washington and Emily Amanda (Douglas)
Ellig. He was the thirteenth child of thirteen children. A
veteran of the U.S. Army, he took part in the Occupation of
Japan. Strawberry married Peggy Reddick on November 23,
1955. Before his retirement he was an Insurance Agent.
Strawberry loved his family riding his horses, hunting and
fishing. He was an active member of the 1st
Baptist Church in Okmulgee and a Deacon, the Okmulgee
Roundup Club, the Okmulgee Sheriffs Mounted Patrol, the
Okmulgee Charity Trail Riders and the Pure Pleasure Gaited
Horse Association of Tulsa. His parents and twelve of his
siblings preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife of 51 years,
Peggy of the home, a daughter Kim and husband Frank Priegel
Jr., of Okmulgee, a son Kyle and wife Melissa Ellig of
Glenpool, a sister Melva Jeanne Scott of Vinita and a
brother and sister in law Kenneth and Debbie Reddick of
Tulsa, two grandchildren Kaitlin Priegel of Okmulgee and
Paul Priegel of Stillwater Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M.,
Monday, at the 1st Baptist Church in Okmulgee
with Dr. Dennis Taylor officiating. Burial will be in the
Okmulgee Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday at the
McClendon-Winters Funeral Home, 1-8 P.M. Pallbearers will be
Tony Wright, Roy Anderson, Les Mitchell, Henry Stone, Howard
Asbury, David Taylor, Michael Taylor and Neal Brigance
