McCLENDON-WINTERS FUNERAL HOME "Dignity without Compromise"
Margarett Nelson (Taylor) Evans Margarett Nelson (Taylor) Evans,
88, died Friday morning, January 30, 2004 at Rebold Manor Nursing Home. She was
born June 2, 1915 in Gunter, Texas, the daughter of Shelby Russell Taylor and
Hattie Salina (Waller) Taylor. She moved with her family to Okmulgee in 1927.
She attended Roosevelt Grade School and graduated from Okmulgee High School with
the Class of 1934. She married Noel R. Evans, Sr. on September 2, 1939 and they
resided in Illinois for 33 years, returning to Okmulgee in 1972. Margarett was a
long time member of the New Life Assembly of God Church. She was preceded in
death by her parents, husband, a sister, Bernice (Taylor) Miller and three
brothers, Roy, Harry, and James Taylor. Survivors include two children, Rev.
Noel R. Evans, Jr. of Flint, Michigan and Mary Margarett Evans of Tallahassee,
Florida, two grandchildren, Anthony H. Berry of Tallahassee and Lyndsey T. Berry
of Crested Butte, Colorado, and one brother, Shelby R. Taylor of Tulsa. A
funeral service will be held 10:00 A.M. Monday, February 2, 2004 at the
McClendon-Winters Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jimmie Ledgerwood
officiating. Interment will follow in the Okmulgee Cemetery. Friends may visit
the funeral home from 2-8 P.M. Sunday. Arrangements are under the direction of
the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.
