Lutitia A. "Tish" (Tulloch)
Farris, longtime Okmulgee resident, passed away Saturday
morning, July 19, 2003 at Okmulgee Memorial Hospital. She was 91 years of age.
Mrs. Farris was born January 26, 1912 in Sperry, Oklahoma to Walter C. and
Abigail (Mohney) Tulloch. She attended Okmulgee Junior College and George
Washington University where she graduated in 1933. She then taught school in
Okmulgee for 3 years. On September 4, 1938 she married George Anderson Farris at
the South Methodist Church in Okmulgee. He preceded her in death on July 21,
1998. Mrs. Farris enjoyed tutoring in her home in addition to being an active
member of the D.A.R. and the First United Methodist Church. In addition to her
husband and parents, Mrs. Farris was preceded in death by her brother, Dr.
George Mohney Tulloch, a sister, Elenor Tulloch Russell, and a brother-in-law,
Bluford Miller Farris. Survivors include a nephew, Dr. John Tulloch of St. Paul,
Minn., a sister-in-law, Wilma Farris of Owasso, cousins, Jack Brown Mohney of
Charlotte, N.C., Dave and Esther Miller of Okmulgee, Bob and Jane Miller of
Beggs, and Ed and Lynn Thornley of Morris, a nephew, Gary Farris of Tulsa, and
two nieces, Dorothy Jean Fuller of Austin, Texas and Theresa Gail Dial of
Pocatella, Idaho.
A funeral service will be held
10:00 A.M. Wednesday, July 23, 2003 at the First United Methodist Church with
Reverend Guy Langston officiating. Interment will follow in the Okmulgee
Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Jim Vaughn, Jack Harlan, Bob Barnard, H.G.
McChesney, Robert Inglish, and Bill Martin. Friends may visit the funeral home
from 10-8 on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to
the Circle of Care, D.A.R., Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, or the Charity
of the Donor’s Choice. Arrangements are under the direction of the
McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.
