Robert F. "Bob" Hankins, Okmulgee, passed away Wednesday morning, September 11, 2002 at Okmulgee Memorial Hospital at the age of 72. He was born May 16, 1930 in Carnegie, Oklahoma to Louie E. and Minnie Ola (Clay) Hankins. He married Betty Shackleford on November 12, 1949 in Carnegie. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and had attended Central State College in Edmond. He had lived in New Mexico, California and then Okmulgee, and had been a self employed as a carpenter. Mr. Hankins was a member of the Rotary Club, Masonic Lodge, Elk’s Lodge and the First Baptist Church of Okmulgee. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include:

His wife of 52 years, Betty Hankins, of the home

A daughter, Donna Conway of Okmulgee

A son, Steve Hankins and wife Jayme of Okmulgee

Two brothers, Ralph Hankins and wife Nadina of Oklahoma City and Troy Hankins and wife Donna of Marysville, California

Two sisters, Rita Horn and husband Roy of Broken Arrow and Nelta Robinson of Austin, Texas

Five grandchildren, Brooke Hankins, Peter Hankins, Garrett Hankins, Heather Conway Jimenez, and Lee Conway


A memorial service will be held 10:00 A.M. Friday, September 13, 2002 at the First Baptist Church of Okmulgee. Arrangements are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters funeral Home of Okmulgee.
