Ralph D. Harvey,
lifelong Beggs businessman, farmer and rancher, died Tuesday morning, May 12,
2009 in Sapulpa at the age of 90.
He was born August 14, 1918 in Beggs to Jarvis and Mary Eveline (Harris) Harvey.
He married Katie Belle Williams on August 20, 1937 in Beggs.
Ralph owned and operated Harvey’s Hardware in Beggs for many years.
He also owned a hay business, was a school bus driver, and a farmer and
rancher, having raised show pigs in his later years.
He loved his family, especially spending time with his children and
grandchildren. Ralph was a member
of the Beggs Masonic Lodge where he was the Past Master, Beggs Round Up Club and
the Crossroads Baptist Church. He
was a very active supporter of the Beggs FFA and Youth Rodeos.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, four sisters and
a grandson, Bart Tyler Harvey.
Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Katie Harvey, four children, Sue Jeffrey
and husband Duane of Wilburton, Ralph Gary Harvey and wife Jackie of Ft. Scott,
Kansas, Larry Harvey and wife Helen of Beggs and Gayla Enlow and husband Ray of
Sapulpa, eight grandchildren, John D. Jeffrey, Justin M. Harvey, Matt Austin
Harvey, Jason Harvey, Keli Groves, Janell Gore, Camy Nicholson and Chad Enlow,
twenty great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, May 15, 2009 at the
Crossroads Baptist Church with Reverend Travis Markes officiating.
Interment will follow in the Beggs Cemetery where Masonic Rites will be
conducted. Ralph’s grandchildren will serve as Casketbearers.
Friends may visit the funeral home 12-8 P.M. on Thursday and the family
will receive friends from 5-7 P.M. Thursday evening in the funeral home chapel.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Crossroads Baptist Church in
lieu of flowers. Arrangements are
under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Beggs.
