Christine Hodgens

Christine Hodgens 81, a resident of Okmulgee, died on Wednesday, October 3, 2007 in Okmulgee. She was born in Broughton, IL on December 31, 1925 to Walter and Mayme Marie (Porter) Massey. Christine graduated from high school in Okmulgee County, had worked in a Seattle Washington defense plant during WW II, the Okmulgee and Henryetta Hospitals, and the Gill-Miller Clinic for several years until her retirement. Mrs. Hodgens was very active in the Calvary Baptist Church in Okmulgee serving as Sunday school teacher, and other positions. She also was a 50-year member of the Eastern Star, also a member of the Lioness Club and the Business and Professional Women’s Club. Her parents preceded her in death.

Survivors include her daughter; Joy C. and husband Raymond Cameron of Chicago, Illinois, two sons; Joe L. and wife JoAnn Hodgens of Tulsa, OK, and William Gene Hodgens of Weleetka OK, five brothers; William Massey of Midland, TX, Clifford Stewart of Tulsa, Raymond Stewart of Dallas, TX, Robert Stewart of Mounds, and Mickey Stewart of Hearst, TX, seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, October 8, 2007 at the Okmulgee Cemetery with Rev. Lawrence Matlock officiating. There will be no visitation. The family suggests donations be made in Christine’s name to Baptist Village of Okmulgee for lawn furniture. Services are under t he direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home.
