Billy Lee Howard, Beggs, passed away Thursday evening, October 24, 2002 at his home at the age of 73. He was born July 2, 1929 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Lee and Maddie Howard. He had moved to Choteau Bend from Tulsa eight years ago, and had lived there until his recent illness. He was a member of the Elks Lodge for 23 years and the Baptist Church. He also loved to fish, go to flea markets and garage sales. He had been a boiler and restaurant manager. Mr. Howard was preceded in death by his parents and a step-son, Roger Hickman. Survivors include his wife, Irene (Thorn) Howard, of the home, a step-son, Jimmy Hickman of Tulsa, a step-daughter, Lorene Hickman of Beggs, a daughter, Connie Ellis of Jenks, and two sons, Ronnie Howard of Mannford and Billy Howard, Jr. of Oklahoma City.

Graveside services were held Saturday, October 26, 2002 at the Beggs Cemetery with Chaplain Rick Shields officiating. Interment followed in the Beggs Cemetery under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Beggs.
