Rod (V.G.) Humphreys

Rod (V.G.) Humphreys, 68, of Beggs died Saturday, October 29, 2005 at his home. He was born June 11, 1937 in Talihina, Oklahoma to Morton Harrison and Dessie Gertie (Hudspeth) Humphreys. He married Sharon Nelson on August 31, 1963 in Parsons, Kansas. They moved to Beggs in 1974. Rod was a member of the United States Army and worked as a carpenter for many years. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather, who was much loved by all of his family and friends. He enjoyed riding horses, hunting and spending time with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, one sister, his parents-in-law, three sisters-in-law, and one brother-in-law. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion. Survivors include his wife, Sharon, of the home, a daughter, Cindi Hutton of Beggs, a son, Rodney Harrison Humphreys and wife Patty of Beggs, four grandchildren, John Hutton III, Sabrina Humphreys, Desirae Humphreys, and Kayle Humphreys, two sisters, JoAnn Brown of Antlers and Janis Crull of McAlester, and one brother, Duane Humphreys of Talihina.

Memorial services will be held 1:00 P.M., Friday, November 4, 2005 at the First United Methodist Church of Beggs and 1:00 P.M., Monday, November 7, 2005 at the Lennox Church of Muse, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family at P.O. Box 915, Beggs, OK 74421. Arrangements are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Beggs.
