"Dignity without compromise"
Juanita Inglish, age 85, died on Monday June 30, 2003 in Tulsa. She was a resident of Burgundy Place in Tulsa.
She was the wife of longtime Okmulgee attorney, George R. Inglish, who preceded her in death in 1998.
Mrs. Inglish twice was elected Okmulgee County Clerk serving from 1942-1945. She was preceded and succeeded in the position by her brother Manuel Furr. Her father Ben C. Furr served as County Commissioner from 1932-1936. Her brother Bill later served as County Assessor.
Born October 9, 1917 in Henryetta, she graduated from Henryetta High School and East Central State College, Ada(1939). She married George Inglish in 1946.
A longtime member of the First Christian Church in Okmulgee, she was active in women's groups there. She also was active in Creek Nation Garden Club and P.E.O. The last 4 years she also maintained church membership at Harvard Avenue Christian Church, Tulsa.
She is survived by her daughter Barbara Dismukes and her husband John of Tulsa; her grandchildren Ryan Dismukes of Dallas and Kyle Dismukes now serving in the Peace Corp in Ecuador; son Robert Inglish, Okmulgee attorney and his partner Craig Wood of Tulsa; and health care companion Susie Crawford, Okmulgee.
Graveside services will be Thursday July 3, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at the Okmulgee Cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Charlie Green of First Christian Church.
Contributions may be made to First Christian Church, Okmulgee and Harvard Avenue Christian Church, Tulsa.
