Raymond Elby Irons

Raymond Elby Irons 86, longtime resident of Okmulgee, died in Okmulgee on Monday, July 30, 2007. He was born in Tuskegee, OK to Earl and Emma (Blevins) Irons on May 28, 1921. Raymond served his country during World War II in the Army Air Corps. He married Ruby Hodge on February 3, 1948 in Okemah, Oklahoma. He worked for ASG Industries for 23 years and then for the Okmulgee State Park, retiring in 1983. He attended the Calvary Baptist Church in Okmulgee. Raymond loved his time with family and to fish. His parents and several brothers and sisters and a grandson Christopher Nelson preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife Ruby of the home one daughter Donna Nelson of Choctaw, Oklahoma, two grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be on Wednesday, August 1, 2007 at 2 pm at the Calvary Baptist Church in Okmulgee with Rev. Lawrence Matlock officiating. Burial will be in the Okemah Cemetery under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home in Okmulgee. Visitation will be Tuesday 1-8 PM. Condolences may be made at mcclendon-winters.com.
