Mahaley Jones
Mahaley Tarpalechee Jones
was born in Schulter, Oklahoma on July 2nd, 1921 to Reverend Miller
and Nancy Tarpalechee. She was
united in marriage to Elmer Jones in 1946.
She was preceded in death by her husband, sons, Billy Jones and Terry
Jones, Sr, four brothers, Johnson Tarpalechee, Martin Tarpalechee, Yarne
Tarpalechee, Henry Tarpalechee and her most precious granddaughter, Roberta
“Berta” Jones. She is survived by
her sons, Glen Jones and wife Elizabeth of Dewar, Floyd Jones of Okmulgee, Step
son, Robert Jones of Okmulgee, daughters-in-law, Marianne Scott of Okmulgee,
Diane Jones of Okmulgee, one sister, Mulsey Long of Muskogee, brother-in-law,
Harry Douglas and wife Geneva of Mason, along with 16 grandchildren, 27 great
grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.
She was a veteran of World War II, having served in Belgium, Ardennes,
Central Europe and Rhineland. She
received the European African Eastern Ribbon, WACC Service Ribbon, Two Overseas
Service Bars, Good Conduct Medal and Four Battle Stars.
She was a life long member of Big Cussetah United Indian Methodist Church
and the United Methodist Women.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at the Big
Cussetah United Indian Methodist Church officiated by Reverend Newman Frank and
assisted by Reverend Tommy Vann.
Interment will follow in the family cemetery under the direction of the
McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.
Wake services will be 7:00 P.M. Tuesday evening at the church.
