George (Bill) William Keys

George (Bill) William Keys, a longtime Dallas area resident, died Saturday morning, May 12, 2007 in Dallas at the age of 84. He was born March 20, 1923 in Checotah, Oklahoma to George and Beulah Virginia (Whitfield) Keys. At a very young age the family moved to Okmulgee and George resided her until he joined the United States Navy. He served his country in World War II and Korea. He remained in the service until retiring in 1965. He married Elizabeth M. Davis who preceded him in death in 1965. In 1977, George moved to the Dallas area and worked for Western Electric as an electrical engineer, retiring from AT&T in 1985. He enjoyed spending time with his children going on cultural outings and spending time outdoors. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his father, George Keys, mother, Beulah Virginia Wilson, and three sisters, Nina, Jessie and Elizabeth. Survivors include his son, Jeffrey Keys and wife Kim of Mesquite, Texas and their daughter Lauren, a daughter, Caroline Burks and husband Larry of Dallas, two brothers, Richard F. Wilson of California, Robinson Wilson of Tulsa, and two sisters, Billie Berry of Bethany and Ruth Gehring of Wooster, Ohio. Graveside Military Rites will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Friday, May 18, 2007 at the Okmulgee Cemetery Veteranís Circle. Friends may visit the funeral home on Thursday from 9-6 and Friday until 1:00 P.M.
