Iva S. Kinsey
Iva S. Kinsey, longtime Morris resident, passed away Tuesday evening, May 27, 2003 at Okmulgee Memorial Hospital. She was 100 years of age. She was born September 19, 1902 in Eufaula, Indian Territory to Robert and Mary (Lewis) Murrell. She married John Kinsey on August 21, 1920. Together they owned and operated a grocery store and filing station. Mrs. Kinsey was an active member of the First united Methodist Church of Morris and the American Legion Auxiliary of Okmulgee. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a step-son, two brothers, Elvin and Benny Murrell and two sisters, Virginia Miller and Eva Perry.
Survivors include a step-granddaughter, Kathy Hansell of California, and eight nieces and nephews, Iva Jean Jorgensen, Robert Miller, David Miller, Jerry Miller, and Susan Ross, all of Texas, Max Miller and Jeanette Lyerla, both of Georgia and Richard Perry of Tulsa.
A funeral service will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday, May 31, 2003 at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Gary O. Wilburn officiating. Interment will follow in the Morris Cemetery. Nephews will serve as casketbearers. Friends may visit the funeral home from 10-8 on Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Morris or the Charity of the Donorís Choice.
