Edith Marie Kirkland

Edith Marie Sitton Kirkland, longtime Okmulgee resident, died Monday evening, February 24, 2008 at The Mayfair Nursing Home in Tulsa. She was 89 years of age. She was born September 25, 1918 in Howell, Oklahoma. Edith was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening and loved tending to her flowers. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Patrick Sitton and Homer Kirkland, two brothers, Olan Hill and Doyle Hill and a sister, Bonnie Dean Austin. Survivors include her son, James Sitton and wife Charleen, of Okmulgee, three grandchildren, Jamie Cantwell and husband Bryan of San Francisco, Robert Christopher Sitton of Tulsa and Beth Fry and husband Ken of Tulsa and four great grandchildren, Dylan, Aubrey, Haley and Ethan. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday, February 28, 2008 at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Raymond Doke of the First Assembly of God Church officiating. Interment will follow in the Okmulgee Cemetery. Friends may visit the funeral home from 12-8 P.M. on Wednesday. Arrangements are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.
