Gladys Kirkland

Gladys L. Kirkland, 83, longtime Okmulgee resident, died Saturday morning, September 6, 2008 at her home. She was born October 26, 1924 in Ada, Oklahoma to Ike and Eva Foster. She married Marvin Kirkland on January 7, 1946 in Wewoka. She was a homemaker and assisted her husband in their plumbing business, Kirkland Plumbing. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Michael Kirkland, six brothers and four sisters. Survivors include her husband, Marvin Kirkland, of the home, a daughter, Ladine Brown and husband Carlos of Henryetta, a grandson, Ritchey Brown and wife Betty of Checotah, a granddaughter, Marvet Johnson and husband Gary of Tulsa, three great grandsons, Nick Johnson, Tim Johnson, and Ryan Brown, a great granddaughter, Crissy Brown, and a sister-in-law, Marie Bertrang of Tulsa. Graveside services will be held 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, September 9, 2008 at the Okmulgee Cemetery with Reverend James Waltman officiating. Friends may visit the funeral home on Monday from 1-8 P.M. Arrangements are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.
