Dixie Lee Wadley Leggett

Dixie Lee Wadley Leggett, lifelong Okmulgee resident, died Tuesday morning, March 9, 2004 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. She was 85 years of age. Mrs. Leggett was born February 2, 1919 in Okmulgee to the late Dee and Bessie Beard. She graduated from Okmulgee High School and had worked in the Okmulgee County Clerk’s Office, at Glennan General Hospital and retired from Okmulgee Ready Mix. She had served on the Okmulgee County Election Board and the Okmulgee Cemetery Association Board for many years. She was a member of the Second Baptist Church where she had been very active. Preceding her in death was her parents, husband, J.B. Wadley, two sisters, Othalene Rodman and Louise Harrison and a niece Barbara Jean Culpepper. Survivors include her husband, Glen Leggett, of the home, two sisters-in-law, Alma Lackey and Dorothy Weller, both of Okmulgee, a step-daughter, Glenda Guthrie and husband Vernon of Galena Park, Texas, a step-son, David Leggett and wife Pat of Broken Arrow, and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, March 12, 2004 at the Second Baptist Church with Reverend Jeff Vernon officiating. Interment will follow in the Okmulgee Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Howard Lackey, Marvin Brady, Bob Shelton, Roger Giessmann, Dale Loague, and Ralph Suiter. Viewing will be Thursday from 10-8 PM and Friday 9-12. Arrangements are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.
