Steve McCune

Steve McCune retired Okmulgee business leader and former owner of Aladdin Fence Co. passed into Heaven at the age of 65, Monday, November 6, 2006 in Tulsa, OK from a short illness.

Steve was born on January 23, 1941 to Steve McCune and Naomi McCune Raper in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He met and married his Bride of 41 years Floella (Barbara) Bearpaw in Tulsa, Oklahoma. They were wed on February 14, 1965 in Noel, Missouri. From this union they had 4 wonderful children. Steve and Flo came to Okmulgee in 1973 where they started one of the first Fence Companies that is still going today. Steve retired in 2000 and handed it down to his son Stephen McCune.

Steve was a longtime resident of the Nuyaka community where he rededicated his life at the Nuyaka Baptist Church. He was a rancher and a lifetime member of the Nuyaka Round Up Club. He was also a member of the Nuyaka Volunteer Fire Department. Steve took great pride in raising his family, horses, and cattle.

His parents and one sister, Barbara Brunkhorst and one daughter, Sherie Denise McCune Goble preceded Steve in death. He is survived by his wife Floella McCune of Nuyaka, Oklahoma, daughter Tracey and Jeff Kraus, their children Kavan and Erin Kraus of Lee Summit, Missouri, daughter Dana and Tim Crook, their children Lindsay and Payton Crook of Beggs, Oklahoma, daughter Tricia and Frankie Skupien, their children Austine, Jaden and Kadence Skupien of Nuyaka, Oklahoma, and Stephen and Ginny McCune, their son Stephen Ashtin McCune of Nuyaka, Oklahoma, sisters Jo Chenoweth of Cashion, Oklahoma, Dollie Shaw of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and Roberta White of Tulsa, Oklahoma, brother Robert Robert Raper of Tulsa, Oklahoma and many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Stephen McCune, Mike Gartrell, Frankie Skupien, Robert Raper, Jimmy Shaw, and Timmy Shaw. Honorary pallbearers will be Kavan Kraus, Gene Swarer and Micheal Davis. He will be greatly missed by family, relatives and friends for his gentleness and kindness to everyone.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, November 10, 2006 at the Nuyaka Baptist Church with Reverends David Hamilton and Chad Eades officiating. Interment will follow in the Okfuskee Cemetery under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee. The family will receive friends from 4-8 P.M.
