Ethel Mae (Wood) McElhannon

 

Ethel Mae (Wood) McElhannon went home to be with Jesus on May 6, 2005. Ethel was born on September 4, 1922 to Rufus H. Wood and Della B. (Hafner) Wood in Okmulgee County. Ethel married John L. McElhannon on September 23, 1939 and they lived in Okmulgee all their lives. Ethel had such great love for her family, her children and especially babies. She was such a wonderful mother and grandmother. Preceding her in death was her husband, John L. on October 7, 1999, her mother and father, three brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include her four children, Mary Lois and George Harding, Linda Kellogg, Kathryn Fulton, and Dewayne and Connie McElhannon, all of Okmulgee, two brothers, Woodrow Wood of Illinois, and Robert Wood of Harrah, Oklahoma, one sister, Betty Riddell of Wichita, Kansas, eleven grandchildren, Georganna Cunningham, Anita Harding, Debbie Cato, Teresa Nice, Doug Harding, Seth Kellogg, Jr., Tammy Wade, Kenneth Mann, Jr., Rick McElhannon, Christie Kahbeah and Dusty McElhannon, 20 great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M., Monday, May 9, 2005 at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Steve Kahbeah of Jesus More Than Enough Church officiating. Interment will follow in the Okmulgee Cemetery under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee. Grandsons will serve as casketbearers.
